5 Ways to Travel Fit

A Yogurt a Day, Keeps the Fat Away

What is the point of travelling if you can’t go wild with your taste buds? Experiencing new cuisines and unique flavors is a huge part of travelling. The downside? It could easily ruin your diet. So, why not consume a small portion of yogurt daily while you travel? Yogurt is known for their health benefits especially since they are rich in nutrients and contain probiotics, which aids with digestion. So, if you want a “happy tummy” while you indulge in the guilty pleasures of food, try adding a yogurt or two to your daily intake. Just remember, everything in moderation!

Drink Plenty of Water!

“Thousands have lived without love, not one without water.” – H. Auden

Yes, yes, I know, water doesn’t taste as good as soda, beer, or wine. But, the importance of staying hydrated trumps everything else! Moreover, water helps regulate blood pressure and keeps the kidneys in check (so you don’t suffer a colic). And, substituting the occasional beer with water reduces your calorie intake significantly!

WALK! (Say NO to Grab or Uber!)

A wise man once said (or in this case, a woman), “Travel as long as your feet can carry you!”. The joy of travelling, especially for a wanderlust, lies in the little things. And, you will never see them sitting in a cab! So, walk! Walk as much as you can. Explore every little inch and corner you come across. A little fresh air (if you are not in a bustling city full of traffic that is) wouldn’t hurt too. Above all, the more you walk, the more calories you burn! So, win-win!

TIP: Make sure you bring along a comfy pair of sneakers or shoes! If you don’t own one yet, you can consider purchasing a pair from Skechers, Adidas, Toms, or Dr Scholls. These are some of the most recommended brands in 2019! Click on this link to find out more about the Top Picks for 2019: https://shershegoes.com/best-travel-shoes-womens-comfortable-and-stylish/

Eat Your Greens!

I’ll admit – staying true to your diet while you travel is tricky. I mean, how do you say no to a serving of greasy burger with a side of fatty, carb-filled fries at the best burger joint in town!? You would be mad to say no to that! Its an experience you wouldn’t want to miss. So, go ahead and enjoy it! All you’ve got to do is balance it out with a larger portion of vegetables and fruits in your next meal.

Be Sporty!

There are no shortage of physical activities that you can do while you travel. Cycling, hiking, water sports, rock climbing, and the list goes on. It is in fact one of the best ways to explore a new place. Hike up that gorgeous mountain or cycle along the countryside! The idea is to keep fit and active while you enjoy the breath-taking view and venture into new landscapes.
